Committed to preserving the art of classical ballet, enriching the community through the beauty of ballet, and impacting young lives through the discipline of dance
Beginning in 2009 with its trip to Budapest, Hungary, Florida Classical Ballet Theatre has participated in an annual international outreach trip. Dancers share their talents with an international audience by performing for under-served populations abroad. For many of our students, this is a once-in-a lifetime opportunity to see the world and experience its many cultural offerings.
FCBT is committed to local and international community outreach. Eight student and three professional dancers from Florida Classical Ballet Theatre traveled to perform in Cuba from August 4 through August 11. We traveled to five cites and performed for over 1500 Cuban citizens. The dancers visited with children in the small rural town of San Jose de los Ramos before performing ballet for the first time in this community, our dancers received a standing ovation from an audience of over 800 in Cardenas City and in Mantanzas, FCBT professional, Rogelio Corrales, was surprised by a visit from his high school sweetheart! FCBT’s Ballet Ambassadors International was created to open doors and cross barriers and without doubt this mission was accomplished. We have been asked to return; perhaps our next visit should be when the temperatures are below 100! Our dancers will long remember our time in this amazing country. Our next Ballet Ambassadors International trip is set for August 2012 when we will travel to Russia by invitation from missionary groups based in Moscow.
