Class Descriptions

The Ballet School

Children’s Division (Levels Pre-I – III)
The Esther Center offers specialized dance instruction for children ages three through seven, with limited class sizes for individual attention. Classes are designed to encourage creativity and stimulate the imagination in an environment that is nurturing and sensitive to the needs of young children. Classes meet once a week.

Lower Division (Levels IV – VI)
Students in the Lower Division attend ballet classes one to two days weekly (dependent on level) and have the option of adding jazz, tap and/or mime classes.

Middle Division (Levels VII – VIII)
Students in the Middle Division attend classes two to four days weekly (dependent on level). Classes include ballet, pre-pointe or pointe, jazz, tap, modern and mime.

Upper Division (Levels IX – X)
Students in the Upper Division attend classes four to five days weekly. The Upper Division serves students with an interest in working intensively and/or with an interest in a professional career in dance. Classes include ballet, pointe, variations, partnering, mime, jazz, tap and modern.

Open Division / Teen and Adult
At the Esther Center, we celebrate the dancer in us all, and offer a variety of open dance classes for busy adults and teens. Classes are offered in ballet, modern, tap, ballroom & pilates.

Trainee Level / High School Students (Junior and Senior)
Students in the Trainee Level attend classes six days weekly. Trainees coordinate their schedules with area high schools to allow for early release making it possible to attend dance classes earlier in the day. Two credit hours per year can be earned. The Trainee Level serves students working toward a professional career in dance. Classes include ballet, pointe, variations, partnering, mime, jazz, tap and modern.
